It’s that time AGAIN- Tesla dropped their prices
September 2023 brought on dramatic price slashes for the Model X and the Model S, revealing that the short lived Standard Range S and X Models are gone, and the Model X is eligible for the federal tax credit. These drops boast a large difference of about 15-19% in price.
The Long Range Model S (Dual Motor AWD) purchase price will now start at $74,990, while the Model S Plaid (Tri Motor AWD) will start at $89,990. This does not change its eligibility for the tax break. Cars have a cap at a purchase price of $55K in order for the tax break to be utilized. For the North East- the expected delivery date of the Model S is September- October 2023.
The Model X (Dual Motor AWD) will now start at $79,990. Similar to the Model S Plaid, the Model X Plaid (Tri Motor AWD) will also start at $89,990. Increasing your cabin to 6 seats will add $6,500 to your total price while the 7 seats will be $3,500.
The expected delivery date in the North East for both the base and plaid is October-November 2023. With either the Model X Base or Plaid, your purchase is over $80K and therefore eligible for the Federal Tax Credit of $7,500 (reductions likely after December 31st). With these incentives, the Base Model X could even be CHEAPER than the Model S! Be sure to look into the terms of the Inflation Reduction Act to see if you apply.
Tesla has also wiped the additional fees for certain exterior paint colors on the Model S or Model X. That white or cream interior and yoke steering wheel, however, will still cost you. Don’t forget- new Teslas no longer come with a charger so you will have to plan accordingly.
For customers this news is either a blessing- making the MSRP of a new Tesla significantly more affordable, while others that recently purchased their Tesla might be more than disappointed to hear the value of their vehicle dropped.
